South Africa has all of what is good in travel. Epic natural wildlife, diverse landscapes of rare beauty, a culture rich in history, an abundance of attractions, excellent food and great wine… all in the best South African Flavor.

Sapirience offers an unforgettable motorcycle journey that includes all of this and more. We start in the South African “wine country,” influenced by colonial European wine farms, before beginning our climb into green mountain ranges and winding roads that zigzag us into the dry and burning Karoo desert. We will ride along the southern coast with green lush landscapes kissed by water, also known as “The Garden Route”. We will reach the Cape of Good Hope, and end in Cape Town, one of the most beautiful cities in the world,
at the foot of Table Mountain.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Welcome to South Africa! (50 km)

Upon arrival we will go directly to up our bikes in Cape Town and take a short drive to Stellenbosch, located in an area known as the “Land of Wine”. What shall we do there? Drink wine of course! And that is exactly what we will do at the hotel surrounded by beautiful vineyards in this quaint town. A perfect place to stroll around and rest after the long the flight. Accommodation: Stellenbosch

Day 2: Wine Country (150 km)

We will start our journey by touring several wine farms located in the area, and taste the wonderful and well known wines of South Africa (we repeat; taste NOT drink), and experience through our taste buds, the unique lifestyle of European settlers in South Africa. Breathing in the romantic aroma on the beautiful farms between vineyards, mountains, and endless expanses, going up the winding roads and stopping in sweet little fairy tale like villages. Accommodation: Stellenbosch

Day 3: Vineyards, Mountains and Deserts OH MY! (200 km)

Our first stop will be at the Pearl Nature Reserve where we will then begin our climb up the famous Bainskloof mountain pass. On the other side of the pass, vinyards as far as the eyes can see will accompany us on our way to Montego, where we begin to ride the famous Route 62 – the old road that connected Cape Town with Port Elizabeth. We will pull into the Hot Springs of Montego where we will have to check the temperature of the water. Accommodation: Montego

Day 4: Route 62 and The Land of Eden (400-300 km)

An amazing day of intense riding and yes a bit long! Some of the roads go on for long stretches, some are mountainous, and some are good winding dirt paths. It is today that the hidden beauty of South Africa begins to unfold! Amazing mountain passes, perfectly paved roads, green mountains, fertile rivers and valleys. An impressive contrast of color with lush mountains on one side and arid, desolate landscapes on the other. We’ll glide and zigzag along these amazing roads and through the mountains. Accommodations: Oudtshoorn

Day 5: Little Karoo and Oudtshoorn (150 km)

A day of riding and activities around Oudtshoorn, known as The Ostrich Capital of the world (yep there is one). Here we’ll visit one of the farms and if you are feeling brave enough, you can ride one too. Of course we will not let the day go by without riding one of the best known mountain passes in South Africa, The Swartberg Pass, and taking a trip to the undoubtably charming town of Prince Albert. Accommodations: Oudtshoorn

Day 6: Ocean bound we go (230 km)

Smack dab in the middle of our journey we will head down to the coast and ride around it until the end of our trip. Starting from the barren desert of Karoo, we will then ride along a beautiful mountain pass that Leeds us to the green beach. It is an unbelievable sight; entangled green forests alongside the crystal blue waters of the ocean. We will visit The Tsitsikamma National Park, which connects the lush forest to the cliffs of the Indian Ocean, with rivers and streams flowing through its canyons. Overnight: Tsitsikamma

Day 7: Tsitsikamma (100 km)

Oh the beauty of Tsitsikamma! We will spend the morning exploring the nature and many attractions in the area. Towards noon we will take a short ride to the town of Knysna , situated on a large and beautiful lagoon, enclosed by green mountains with a narrow opening to the ocean. We will climb up to the top of the Key which overlooks one of the most spectacular wealthy neighborhoods of South Africa. Arriving at our hotel at a relatively early hour, gives us time to explore this beautiful tourist city. Overnight: Knysna

Day 8: Knysna (0 mi)

We will take a guided tour of the black neighborhoods surrounding Knysna. For the first time on this trip we will get a close look inside their lives, in a country that only abolished the racist apartheid regime in the mid 1990’s. We will hear about their condition then and now. Later in the day, more surprises … Overnight: Knysna

Day 9: The Garden Route (420 km)

This is the longest day in terms of riding so in order to make good time, we will take the highway along the coast back in the direction of Cape Town. Our day of riding will end in the charming town of Hermanus, famous for the best whale watching in the world, where we hope that we will be able to get sight of these magnificent creatures before they migrate south to Antarctica for the summer. Overnight: Hermanus

Day 10: Hermanus and Entering Cape Town (160 km)

We’ll take advantage of the morning in Hermanus to walk the charming promenade with its quaint shopping center before heading out towards Cape Town. We will circumnavigate around False Bay on one of the most beautiful roads you can imagine. Winding over steep slopes that descend to the waters of the ocean, magnificent landscapes of Table Mountain, The Cape of Good Hope, and an impressive royal entrance to the city lead us to arrive in Cape Town joyfully satisfied where we shall celebrate in the City of South Africa. Accommodation: Cape Town

Day 11: Cape of Good Hope (200 km)

Our last riding day through The Cape of Good Hope, will be one for the books. Riding south on the fantastic road that leads to Hout Bay and continues to the famous road of Chapmans Peak, carved in a cliff above the sea. We will continue south to the Cape itself and arrive at the exact point where the two oceans meet (Atlantic and Indian). Quite an amazing and powerful place. Back on the road to the eastern part of the Cape through beautiful towns situated in bays at the foot of the mountains we shall stop to watch the penguins at the famous Boulders Reserve, and then continue back to Cape Town to jump on a cable car that takes us up to Table Mountain. The time has now come to return the motorcycles and enjoy our last night in this beautiful city. Accommodation: Cape Town
